I’ve had the opportunity to explore around 35 countries for both pleasure and work, from the USA to Europe, Africa, and Asia. Every destination has shaped my journey, bringing unique adventures and cultural discoveries. Whether wandering through ancient cities or hiking breathtaking landscapes, my travels have created unforgettable memories that I am excited to share with you. Travel has broadened my perspective, enriching my life in ways I never imagined.

My Travel Background

My passion for surfing kick-started my dream of chasing waves across Europe, and that is exactly what I set out to do. After working and saving up in the UK, we bought a camper-van and hit the road. What began as a surfing journey soon expanded into something bigger. I left behind the security of a stable job, and while the idea of living on the road was nerve-wrecking at first, the thrill of the unknown quickly turned into a love for exploration.

Surfing was just the beginning. Our travels took us far beyond the coastlines and into places I had only studied and read about in textbooks. Visiting these historical and cultural landmarks was an incredible experience. What surprised me most were the spontaneous adventure - the hidden spots and unexpected detours that locals shared with us. These unplanned moments made our journey even more special and kept fueling my love for travel.

Personal Travel Experience

Traveling in an van might sound glamorous, but reality often tells a different story - especially when your van is old and prone to breakdowns. During one trip, the transmission gave out in a remote area. Thankfully, my experience fixing cars came in handy, and with limited tools, I managed to remove and rebuild the transmission myself. Finding spare parts was a challenge, especially in the heat, but after cycling 12 miles to get a part fixed, we were back on the road. Looking back, it was tough, but moments like these make van life truly rewarding and unforgettable.

Memorable Experiences

Some of my most cherished memories include surfing perfect waves in Mundaka, Spain, and the remote beaches of Les Sables-d'olonne, France. Beyond surfing, sitting along the Seine River in Paris eating lunch and eating takeout pizza on a Roman street behind the Vatican brought the essence of those cities to life. I also had unique experiences, like catching and eating fresh yabbies on an Australian sheep farm and hiking the stunning Picos De Europa mountains in Spain. Each destination offered something unforgettable, from historical wonders like Mont Saint-Michel in France to remote, untouched natural beauty in other parts of the world.

I created Let’s Vooka as a way to share my adventures and inspire you to embark on your own. But where does the name Let’s Vooka come from? It all started when my friends and I were hanging out, and whenever we were ready to head out, we came up with our own slang - "Let’s Vooka" - which simply means "Let’s go!" Over time, it became more than just a phrase, it became a mindset - one that embraces exploration, spontaneity, and the excitement of new experiences. So whether you’re setting off on a grand journey or just stepping outside your comfort zone, Let’s Vooka - Let’s Go!
